Romanticizing Your Life: A Metaphorical Guide to Finding Joy Within

This is not a generic article on "self-love" that you might come across on various blog posts and internet pages, but a metaphorical, prose-like reflection on self-love, and why it is so important.

Beyond the Clichés of Self-Love

Teenagers and young adults—that is the "Generation-Z"—are inherently and overtly known to be self-conscious, sad, and insecure. I don't mean to offend anyone, for I too belong to the same category. But what we need is that eternal source of happiness, gaiety, and joy, which could only come from within.

What Does It Mean to Romanticize Your Life?

So what does "romanticizing your life" mean? Well, it means that one should love everything they do or do everything they love, and enjoy their life! If you aren't happy or satisfied with it, then maybe you need a change of scenery. Try finding yourself, your essence, and what you truly love. Just do stuff you know you enjoy or try exploring!

This can include any hobby: reading, writing, art, dancing, music, watching series/movies, cooking/baking, gardening, photography, going out in nature, any sport, and so on! The possibilities are endless, and exploring them depends on you.

Just accepting the fact that we are the only people we should rely on, for our happiness, would actually solve a lot of problems. Again, if you are still not able to find yourself, and still are not happy from within, then you may consider seeking professional guidance and help.

But the main goal is to love every inch of yourself: mentally, physically, and emotionally. Just become the person you aspire to be—romanticize who you are.

A Metaphorical Listicle for the Soul

  • Look inside your soul, ask what it wants: Is it blooming into a bunch of wildflowers?
  • If it is: Then you're brimming in gaiety, sipping on a cocktail of stardust and moonlight.
  • If it isn't, and is covered in moss: Then you need to look deeper within, to find the source of your light.
  • Explore the capabilities of your mind: For you are the only true lover of yourself, and find the seed to your meadow of peace.
  • Romanticize every moment of your life: For it is a gift, and live it to the fullest.
  • Surround yourself with blooming flowers: And not withering weeds.
  • Bloom: Into a spectral arc of beautiful emotions.

Closing Thoughts for Peace of Mind

  • Do not have any regrets in life: What has passed cannot be changed, no matter what. Just learn from your mistakes and improve yourself.
  • Do not feel insecure about anything: If you do not like something about yourself, and you can change it, then do. If you can't, then there is really no point actually feeling bad about it.
  • Do not let people treat you badly: Hold yourself and your self-esteem higher than the highest of peaks, and do not let anyone crush your spirits. Work hard, and work for yourself. Do not do anything to impress others; they really do not hold that much importance.
  • Never choose someone's happiness over your own: Is this being selfish? No. Because your mental peace should always be a priority over someone's momentary happiness.
