Infinite

INFINITE-Vardhini

you know I've been the kind to bleed in words

as all artists do, destruct and enchant

make beauty out of bloody shards

to release, forget and reminisce

but with you, I've been the selfish kind

what a shame they'll never know you like I do

all our stories they'll never find

the sole art to only live in my mind

I've written parts of you in graphite

in my oldest journal, poems on rain

away from incomplete inspirations that blazed into frustration

now only ashes remain

art immortalizes, these pages will be lost one day

and the lines will fade away

sweet mystery, sweet ignorance

I prefer it that way

I've been the kind to stand behind lenses

and savour the delight of freezing time

you say you were never one for cameras

but all I ever want to do is capture you

and laugh at your accusing smile

so I steal some moments now and then

to live it again, to say farewell and admire

in these pictures, you and I, it's forever

I've known too many promises that grew into 'used to knows'

and you stayed, so let's stay the same

let me memorize all of this

and sing old duets on a rusty swing

so far from closed walls, sunset snaps from window grills

high on the roof, the light is made for you

this moment, this sky is infinite

I think we are too
