A Sense of Blue

Touch is taught by distanceAnd faces remembered best at nightWhat time tells is how long life isAs the length of days culminatesIn the feast that is griefWhere everything is infiniteEverything blue

Sight is to see through thingsThat which was etched uponThe dark brow of waitingAwakening into the abyssThe eye sees at its own selfWhere everything is infiniteEverything blue

Hearing heaven requires not muchBut to become deafness incarnateWhat cannot be put into languageEscapes fragile understandingAnd so needs to be loved in the silenceWhere everything is infiniteEverything blueTo open your mouth to eat airIs sometimes a good exerciseBecause on most daysAs we journey towards the endOur taste for beginnings is left untastedWhere everything is infiniteEverything blue

Death is a breathThat comes at the very endWhen the sky has caved inThe oceans have billowed outAnd the body is boxed back into the soulWhere everything is so infiniteEverything so blue
